Product overview

The YOBIIQ DEM2 combines single-phase direct metering up to 80 A with a choice of connection and I/O options. Select a version with two digital outputs, or one digital input and an integrated relay. LoRaWAN and Modbus RTU variants let you match the meter to the site’s communications infrastructure.

Use the meter to record demand and consumption at individual measurement points, so building and energy teams can compare operating periods and investigate unexpected use.

Why choose DEM2?

CapabilityBenefit
Single-phase direct measurementMeter a circuit without external current transformers.
Demand measurementAdd demand information to the energy-consumption record.
LoRaWAN or Modbus RTUChoose wireless or wired reporting when ordering.
DIN-rail mountingIntegrate the meter into a distribution board.
Model-specific I/OSelect the connections needed for the installation.

Applications

ApplicationExample uses
BuildingsMeasure selected single-phase circuits in offices and shared spaces.
Equipment monitoringCompare energy use across equipment operating periods.
Energy projectsEstablish a baseline and assess the effect of operational changes.

Digital output and relay functions

The DEM2 is available with two digital I/O configurations, selected by the model suffix.

On 2O models, the meter has two digital outputs. Regulations required under the MID certification reserve the first output as a fixed S0 pulse output, used for verified consumption reporting to a separate metering or billing system. The second output is configurable and can switch based on consumption, voltage or current thresholds, making it suitable for a range of applications such as timer-based controls or prepaid/postpaid billing in combination with an external relay.

On 1I1R models, the meter has one digital input and one integrated relay in place of the second digital output. The digital input can register an external contact or event, and the integrated relay can switch directly, without requiring an external relay.

Digital output and relay use cases

Use caseDescription
Prepaid or postpaid billingUse the configurable output (2O) or integrated relay (1I1R) to enable or disable supply based on prepaid credit or postpaid billing status.
Timer-based load controlSwitch connected equipment on or off according to a configured schedule.
Remote load sheddingDrive a contactor or relay command to remove non-critical loads during demand peaks and avoid penalty costs.
Alarm beacon activationTrigger visual or audible alarms when thresholds are crossed, making abnormal power behavior immediately visible on-site.
Controlled reconnect workflowSupport supervised remote reconnect procedures after validation checks in rental, tenant or temporary service scenarios.
Run/stop signal to auxiliary deviceSend a simple control signal to ventilation, pump or process support equipment based on metering logic.
Tariff contact logging (1I1R)Capture utility tariff state changes or external pulse contact events to correlate rate periods with measured consumption.
Breaker status feedback (1I1R)Read an auxiliary breaker contact to confirm trip/open state and improve electrical incident visibility for maintenance teams.
Generator transfer state (1I1R)Track ATS or generator run-state signals for runtime analysis, emergency readiness and post-event reporting.
Door / panel tamper event (1I1R)Use a dry contact to register enclosure access and add a security audit trail to remote electrical rooms.
Closed-loop edge automation (1I1R)Use the digital input as permissive feedback and the integrated relay as actuation to build a straightforward local control loop with central visibility.
